Care and maintenance for Schlüter® products

Our products meet the highest quality standards. Their durability and stress resistance depends on material selection and proper installation and care. Please observe the following product information to prevent material damage.

Care information for various materials

  • Aluminium

    Aluminium

    Special notes on material characteristics

    • Aluminium is sensitive to alkaline media.
    • Cementitious materials, in conjunction with moisture, become alkaline, which may result in corrosion depending on the concentration and length of exposure (aluminium hydroxide formation).
    • Because tile adhesives, mortars and grout can cause damage to the aluminium finish, they must be promptly removed from visible surfaces.
    • Don't cover freshly installed coverings with protective foil etc.
    • Visible areas must be protected against abrasion.

  • Brass

    Special notes on material characteristics

    • Solid brass that is exposed to air will oxidise, resulting in a natural patina.
    • If exposed to moisture or aggressive substances, heavy oxidation and spotting may occur.
    • Because tile adhesives, mortars and grout can cause damage to the brass finish, they must be promptly removed from the visible surface.
    • Don't cover freshly installed coverings with protective foil etc.

    • Avoid contact with other metals, such as steel wool (extraneous rust).
    • Not resistant to all chemical stresses; may be affected by certain chloride and brine concentrations.
    • Don't cover freshly installed coverings with protective foil etc.

Tube Schlüter-CLEAN-CP

This recommendation reflects the current state of knowledge and is not legally binding.

We recommend Schlüter-CLEAN-CP for cleaning and care. The product is a polish for cleaning stainless steel profiles, but is equally suitable for cleaning profiles made of aluminium, brass and other materials. Schlüter-CLEAN-CP is particularly suited for cleaning high-gloss surfaces. Prior to use, we recommend testing the product's suitability on a material sample or in a concealed location.
